Palau Shark Sanctuary is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect the sharks of Palau. It mainly works on a political level, seeking to influence the government of Palau to introduce and enforce strong shark protection laws. Palau Shark Sanctuary also supports programmes to educated the interested public on sharks and their importance for the oceans and our planet.
A major milestone was achieved in September 2009, when President Johnson Toribiong declared the EEZ of Palau the world's first shark sanctuary.
